Hernan Cattaneo, born in Buenos Aires.
In the middle of the 90’s, Hernán had become the cultural force of the dance music movement in his country. He was a resident in Clubland Buenos Aires & his talent was quickly recognized and associated & respected with the most up there of figures of dance music, such as Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, John Digweed and Danny Tenaglia who then signed with Oakenfold’s label Perfecto with whom he released his first ever international mix CD South America. Hernán’s eclectic deep house, tribal and progressive sets attracted the attention of the superclub Cream who then chose Hernán to become their South American resident. His career took off in 1996 and 1997, both years being awarded a local award of “DJ of The Year” and, after joining Paul Oakenfold on his European tour, more doors were opening for him.
In 98 and 99 Hernán traveled to the United States, invited to a string of prestigious events and festivals such as Burning Man, in Nevada and the Red Rocks Amphitheater, in Denver. Immediately after made resident in Cream Liverpool and Ibiza and started touring the globe with an extensive string of important events and festivals, the Clapham Common festival in London, Creamfields, Homelands, as well as the Cream birthday party in Liverpool. Cattáneo made no.50 in DJ Mag ranking as well as the front cover of the magazine. That same year his track Deep Funk hit the charts on no.50, and was voted “Best Newcomer DJ” at the prestigious Pacha Ibiza Awards, and started his own radio show on the Argentinean radio station Metrodance (95.1 FM). Less than a year later, Hernán moved into the Top 25 of DJ Mag ranking. At this point in his career put out another mix CD, the Renaissance mix albums, and by the end of 2004, he found himself at no. 6 in DJ Mag’s ranking. 2005 released the second part of Renasissance’s Master Series & 2006 again through Renaissance, his own CD series called Sequential. An eclectic mix of tracks include a variety of house rhythms and productions with other artists Way Out West, Marco Bailey, Paolo Mojo, 16 Bit Lolitas, Dousk, Bushwacka and remixes for Phonique featuring Royksopp’s Erlend Øye, his first installation of Sequential. He has created a selection of tracks with a stimulating bassline and subtle breakdowns in which the perfect eclectic mix inspires us all.
